PM to address nation Friday

At the fag end of her tenure, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is going to address the nation at 7:30pm on Friday.
PM’s press secretary Abul Kalam Azad told UNB Thursday afternoon that the prime minister will address the nation tomorrow evening but did not say anything about the content of her speech.
Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar will simultaneously air the prime minister’s speech. Other private television channels and radio stations will also broadcast the speech at the same time.
According to sources at the ruling Awami League, the prime minister would inform the nation about the country’s current political situation.
They said the next general election, the election-time government and the tenure of the current parliament are likely to dominate the prime minister’s speech, among other issues.
The country is now passing through a stormy political situation as both the ruling and opposition parties are on collision course over the next general election.
Both the ruling and opposition parties called rallies for October 25 in Dhaka city to stage their showdowns, heightening tension across the country.
