Cops raid Khoka’s house

Members of law enforcement agencies Tuesday raided the Gopibagh residence of BNP Vice-chairmen Sadeque Hossain Khoka, but failed to arrest him.
The raid came a day after Khoka, also the convener of BNP Dhaka city unit, directed the party leaders and activists to keep armed with machetes and axes to counter any attacks while joining the opposition’s October 25 rally in the capital.
The BNP leader was not at home during the one-hour raid, a close aide to Khoka told The Daily Star seeking anonymity.
A team of Detective Branch (DB) of police along with Gopibagh police entered Khoka’s residence around 1:15pm and searched all the rooms, the aide added.
The comment of Khoka triggered huge criticism in the political arena of the country.
Hours into the opposition leader’s comment, Awami League Joint Secretary General Mahbubul Alam Hanif blasted Khoka for his remand and said that his comment is nothing but to provoke opposition leaders and activists.
