National Citizen Society (NCS) at a discussion yesterday demanded cancellation of the proposed power plant project at Rampal near the Sundarbans.
The Sundarbans will eventually be destroyed if the proposed coal-fired thermal power plant is constructed in its proximity, said Nasir Uddin Munshi, chairman of NCS.
The discussion was held at the NCS office at Motijheel, in the capital, said a press release
“As the project goes against national interest, the government should scrap it and construct the plant somewhere else,” he added.
